A lake is a body of relatively still fresh or salt water of considerable size, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land. However, don't mix pond and lakes up. Pond usually refers to a smaller area of water and it is usually used as a large area of water trapped inland without any watercourse connected. Like animals and plants, lakes can be endangered. The main reason is the watercourse. As the climate and the movement of crust, some watercourse might dry out or turn to land. With lack of water source to Qinghai Lake, Qinghai Lake is an endangered lake. It is forecast that Qinghai Lake might dry up if no situation is taken or any huge climate change.
